Highlights: After a highly competitive selection process, we are pleased to announce the 2023 cohort for the Minnesota Young American Leaders Program (MYALP). Thank you to those of you who nominated so many talented young leaders. The selection committees spent considerable time in an in-depth review and discussion of all applicants. We are so grateful and commend their diligent and tough deliberations to select the final cohorts. Together these rising leaders represent a unique force for expanding the power of cross-sectoral collaboration for our region and our state.

Center Newsletter: Fall 2022

Highlights: The 2022 Minnesota Young American Leaders Program (MYALP) took place May 18-20, 2022 at the University of Minnesota, bringing together 50 participants hailing from Duluth, Fargo-Moorhead, Mankato, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Rochester, and St. Cloud. The aim of the program is to bring city-based cohorts of rising leaders from business, government and non-profit organizations together to increase their knowledge of the status and trajectory of our national and regional economic development, provide tools for cross-sector collaboration, and grow their networks of rising leaders who can collaborate for public good in the future. Highlights: All of us at the Center for Integrative Leadership would like to thank former Governor and US Senator Mark Dayton for his time serving as an Executive Leadership Fellow with the Center over the past two years; this Spring the Center is partnering with the Carlson Consulting Enterprise to offer a collaborative initiative consulting project focused on leveraging cross-sector engagement to enhance the teacher of color pathway in Minnesota.

Highlights: The 2020-21 Minnesota Young American Leaders Program (MYALP) had a wonderful group of 42 participants join the Program hailing from Duluth, Mankato, and Minneapolis-Saint Paul; Amy Dorman joined our Center team as a PhD Research Assistant in Summer 2021. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Minnesota School of Social Work and holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

Highlights: Vanessa Laird retires as Center Executive Director, but will continue on as a Senior Fellow of CIL, a member of the Humphrey School Graduate Faculty and Law School Affiliate Faculty, and a participant in the faculty rotation for the Integrative Leadership Seminar. Samantha Silker has been promoted to Center Program Director.

Highlights: Minnesotans continue to find inspiring ways to demonstrate that we are stronger, together.As the pandemic continues to spread in Minnesota and nationwide, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is partnering with the National Guard and others to expand access to COVID-19 tests. Earlier this month, MDH announced that they will open 11 new testing sites across the state and also make at-home tests available to all Minnesotans through the COVID-19 Test at Home program.

Highlights: We are happy to see many examples of shared leadership emerging during these challenging times. People and organizations are finding creative ways to work with new partners to bring necessary goods and services to their communities; the Center welcomes Lucy Marshall as a Graduate Research Assistant in Fall 2019. Lucy is pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Minnesota with a focus in Community Practice: Organizing, Advocacy, and Nonprofit Leadership.

We are pleased to announce that former Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has joined the University of Minnesota’s Center for Integrative Leadership (CIL) as an Executive Leadership Fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year.
