Goals & Outcomes

The Minnesota Young American Leaders Program (MYALP) offers a unique opportunity to solve complex issues, understand the dynamics of cross-sector collaboration, and collectively discuss future investments for our state and region. Participants also have the opportunity to collaborate after the program to potentially launch an initiative for the public good and build a broader regional capacity by deepening their practical knowledge of shared leadership.

Program Themes

  • Economic Trajectory: Insights into the state, challenges, and future trajectory of the U.S. and Minnesota economies.
  • Cross-Sector Leadership: Practical insights, frameworks, and case studies of cross-sector collaboration.
  • Building Future Collaborations: Work directly within city cohorts to apply cross-sector tools and launch a Minimum Viable Benefit (MVB) initiative in your community.
  • Leadership Chats: Candid, off-the-record discussions with prominent leaders sharing "views from the trenches."

Participant Outcomes

By participating in MYALP, leaders will:

  1. Forge Strategic Connections: Build lasting relationships with leaders across sectors and throughout Minnesota's cities and regions.
  2. Deepen Economic Insights: Gain critical perspectives on national and regional economic trends, competitiveness, and inclusive growth.
  3. Master Collaborative Tools: Learn together from real-world examples of innovative cross-sector collaborations that address key challenges, create opportunities, and bridge divides in our communities.
  4. Drive Impact: Work alongside peers, alumni, and faculty to frame, design, and launch collaborative initiatives that advance the public good of our region.
